Weeds, if left unchecked, will overgrow any garden, stealing the nutrients from the soil and blocking out the sunlight needed for the proper plants to grow. This is the perfect analogy for toxic people in your organization. While there are several ways these team members may be toxic, the end result is that they eventually negatively affect all areas of an organization, and they prevent the right people from thriving. As a leader, you have to cultivate a thriving culture, and to do that, sometimes you have to “weed the garden.”
