As your organization grows, you need to be looking for people who are problem solvers and innovators. If you’re a leader, this is the type of person you need to become. It’s no longer acceptable for a leader to wait and be told what to do or ask what to do. Your job as a leader is to identify a problem and make recommendations of how to fix it. Have a point of view! These qualities are what a growing organization needs to be looking for.
As with every organization, we need frontline workers that can execute specific tasks. But as a leader, this is not your role. Your role is to identify problems and challenges to make recommendations with the best ways to solve them. Not all your recommendations will be applied. However, coming with suggestions shows you’re committed to creating a solution and assists the process of finding that solution. I always collaborate with the right people and communicate with others to generate the right solution. If it doesn’t go according to plan, you can always adjust and work together to solve it. That is how growth takes place. If you want to grow in your leadership career, you need to become a problem solver and add real value to the organization.
