Celebrate the Wins

by | Aug 6, 2020 | Leadership, Video

You usually hear me talk about the importance of running to the problems, well today, I want to reinforce that you should celebrate the successes too. There are always going to be problems to solve in a growing company – but you should never lose sight of the wins along the way. What worked last year or even a couple of years ago may not work today, and that’s okay!

We have our people read Strengths Finder to learn more about their top strengths and how they work with each other. You’ll find that when your top strength is out of control, it can be one of your biggest weaknesses. A few of my top strengths are energy and focus – both of which have helped me immensely in my career. But if I go overboard, it can start to turn people off.

I’ve been connecting with my executive team a lot recently, and we’ve been sharing details about the common problems that we’re tackling in each department – but it can’t only be about the issues. I need to hear about the successes and wins! Especially during this time, I make sure to carve time out so we can share our triumphs both weekly and monthly. When you hear about all the significant progress around you, it creates a strong momentum.

As I’ve said before, success looks different during COVID and sometimes you need to redefine what it means to win and have fun. My challenge to you is to tackle those problems but take the time to celebrate the wins along the way. As always, stay healthy and stay safe!
