Leaders, as we move into 2025, I want you to focus on three key areas: time, talent and relationships.
Time
Where are you spending your time? Are you focusing on the highest-impact areas that bring the biggest return? Or are you spreading yourself too thin, trying to do everything—even low-impact tasks—leading to overwhelm and little progress?
Take stock of how you spend your time. Is it giving you the best return on investment?
Talent
Who have you surrounded yourself with? Do you have A-players, B-players, or C-players? What are you doing with each?
- A-players: Are you developing them? Do they have a clear path to grow within your organization?
- B-players: These are your steady, reliable team members. Do they have the right environment to succeed long-term? What matters most to them?
- C-players: These team members are performing below expectations. Are they on a performance plan? Do they know where they stand? What steps are you taking to address this?
Relationships
Take stock of your relationships. How strong are they?
- With your A, B, and C players?
- Across different teams, functions and departments?
- Outside the company, with partners, clients and industry peers?
Are you investing in the right relationships? Are you strengthening the ones that matter most?
Leadership is about making the right investments in time, talent and relationships. Take stock of where you are—and where you can improve.
