Life Is Supposed to Be Fun

by | Jul 3, 2025 | Leadership

A colleague said something to me at a recent event that really stuck: “Life is supposed to be fun.”

The event came together at the last minute. There were a lot of changes, and we ended up inviting some family members last-minute too. But people said yes, and it turned out to be a blast. It reminded me how important it is to make time for fun.

My colleague told me it’s a saying in his family—life’s supposed to be fun. That doesn’t mean we don’t work hard. We do. We care about our careers and we put in the effort. But we also make sure to enjoy life and keep that balance.

Lately, I’ve been talking a lot about overcoming adversity and embracing failure. That’s all part of the success journey. But I also want to remind you—and myself—that it’s okay to take a break. We need joy, too.

So, I’m going to take July and August off from writing new blogs. I’ll still be working and staying engaged, but I want to soak up the Michigan summer. We only get a few months of this beautiful weather, and I’m going to enjoy it.

During this time, I’ll be resharing some of my top blogs for you. I hope they continue to inspire and encourage you.

Just remember: the harder we work, the more important it is to rest and have fun. So, I’m going to do that this summer. I hope you will too.

See you in the fall!
