How to Use Social Media Intentionally

by | Nov 2, 2023 | Leadership

In my recent blogs, I’ve shared some posts I’ve seen on social media. I do that often; I’ll share a thought I’ve seen on social media. A lot of the time, it’s a leadership thought that resonates with me. So, let’s talk about social media!

Social media has a bad reputation for a lot of reasons. A lot of it is deserving; there’s a lot of garbage and false information out there, and social media can be a time suck. The nonsense is true, but there’s also a lot of good out there. If you use social media right, you have more access to thought leaders and influencers than ever before.

I’ve talked a lot about reading in my career. For 20 years, I read a book a month, which helped my personal and professional development. I’m still an avid reader and devour information to continue to learn and grow, but I’m reading fewer books now.

Instead, I’m listening to a lot of podcasts and finding information on social media. I have to look for it and tune out a lot of the garbage, but there are some outstanding thought leaders and influencers that you can learn a lot from. We’ve never had more access to them, which is a valuable part of social media.

I’m here to encourage you to use social media; use it wisely, be intentional and use it carefully. You can even learn from things you don’t like. I recently shared a post I didn’t agree with; sometimes we can learn from things we don’t agree with.

I will continue to keep sharing the nuggets that resonate with me. I’d love to hear from you; who are the thought leaders you think add real value to your life? Whether related to your personal life, professional life, health, spirituality, etc., I’d love to hear who you follow to see if they resonate with me as well.
