If you signed up to get better, you didn’t sign up for it to be easy. This is the essence of a tweet I saw from Kevin DeShazo, a leadership consultant, who described it perfectly. He said, “Adversity is part of the path. Hard days are part of the path. Obstacles are part of the path. Failure is part of the path. Resistance is part of the path. Doubt is part of the path.”
I have experienced all of these at Service Express and in my personal life: adversity, hard days, obstacles, failure, resistance and doubt. It’s part of the journey, and it’s normal. This is what I discuss with other leaders and performers who are trying to grow, both in their profession and in their personal lives.
You’re going to experience these things. How you deal with them, learn from them, and grow from them is, in my experience, what separates achievers from non-achievers. We all face challenges at every level. How you handle them is the key.
