Last week, I talked about The Power of Letting Go. This week, I want to talk about recovery.
I watched the Billy Joel: And So It Goes documentary over the summer. It was a really interesting story. At one point, Billy Joel was eating at a restaurant and talking to an amazing chef. He asked him, “How did you get so good?”
The chef replied, “It’s all in the recovery.”
He meant it’s about making mistakes, trying new things, learning from failures and moving forward. I love that. It really stuck with me.
It reminded me of wakesurfing. I had so many wipeouts, but I learned something every time. The key wasn’t just staying up; it was how I recovered after falling.
So how do we apply that to work and our personal lives? Any journey we’re on, it’s never about not failing. You can’t do anything great without some failure. It’s all about how you respond, embrace the mistake, learn from it and get better because of it.
I’ve written about this before. Don’t let fear of failure hold you back. Use it, grow from it and embrace the recovery.
I’d love to hear what’s going on in your life. How are you embracing failure? How are you recovering and moving forward? What are you working to achieve?
